Blade of the Forgotten
Description
Infernalists often prefer to keep their dark natures private, lest they be destroyed for what they are. The need for secrecy can make it difficult to use the extent of their gifts in a fight where your opponent may live to tell the tale. But desperate times call for desperate actions, and by calling on your infernal allies, you can suppress the memories of what your attackers saw, leaving you enough time to create a new identity - so long as you survive the assault.
System
To enact this ritual the caster must create a sheathe for the blade he wishes to enchant. This sheath must be crafted from the leather of a slain goat and dried in the heat of a fire from the burning wood of black oak. Once complete the sword must be warmed in the heat of the dying fire and immediately placed inside the sheath. The next time the weapon is drawn from the sheath and for the 30 minutes thereafter, whenever you successfully strike an opponent with your Blade, you may engage your target in an opposed challenge using the Dark Thaumaturgy test pool. Your strike does not have to cause damage to gain this ability. If successful your target cannot identify you as the wielder of the weapon or remember your involvement in the fight. They may only describe you in generalities and cannot properly describe why the altercation occurred.
This effect is triggered only when you have successfully declared fair escape from the combat scenario. If a character who was successfully affected by this ritual declares fair escape during the combat the memory loss is also triggered. This memory loss remains for one month or until you are torpored whichever occurs first. Once drawn, you must reconstruct the sheath before using this ritual again and you may only possess one sheath at a time. Only when drawn by you, will the blade have an infernal aura.
