Call Forth the Host

Level 5
Dark Thaumaturgy

Description

Vampires are solitary creatures by nature, but some infernalists have discovered the power that lies in many. “Alone, you are weak. In a group, we are strong. All together, we are unstoppable, and the world will tremble and quake with fear at what we can unleash.”

System

You may cast this ritual alone or you may lead the ritual with as many assistants as you can call upon. In order to act as an assistant for this ritual a character must be part of an infernal contract chain and be a sheeted player character or with the Storytellers permission a stock or sheeted non-player character. Allies, Contacts, Herd, Personal Cult, and other personalities generated by Backgrounds and Merits do not count as assistants. Retainers are the exception to this rule and can be considered assistants with Storyteller permission, but they must possess human intelligence to enter into an infernal contract chain. Ambulatory dead and animal retainers do not qualify. Assistants do not have to possess this ritual. However, the ritual immediately fails if any participants are not infernal, part of a contract or willing to immediately swear a new contract to the summoned demon.

Infernalists who have lost their demonic patron are willingly and immediately pledged to the summoned demon after the successful casting of this ritual. The participants of the ritual must each call out to hell in unison with demonstrations and promises of their supplication and loyalty. When the ritual is complete a demon of terrible power manifests in the real world. The demon summoned is not bound to your will and can act of its own accord. Additionally, you have no way to banish the spirit once summoned. Generally, demons don’t respond well to frivolous summoning and lash out in anger if an acceptable course of actions is not presented to it.

Demons summoned with this power are created with the following rules instead of those found on pg 502 of the MET: Vampire the Masquerade Core Book. If you are the sole participant of this ritual the summoned demon is a stock 5 rating NPC and possesses the following core statistics:

  • Demons are considered to be supernatural creatures, not mortals. Powers that have an increased effect on mortals do not have those increased effects when used against a demon.

  • It has a number of health levels equal to double its stock rating and does not suffer wound penalties.

  • It has a number of blood points equal to double its stock rating. They may spend up to 3 blood per turn. At stock level 20 they may spend 4 blood per turn and at stock level 30 the demon can spend 5 blood per turn.

  • Demons take aggravated damage from blessed or sacred weapons. For a weapon to qualify, it must have been used in religious ceremonies for more than 10 years, or it must be a specific and unique holy item from the myths of that religion.

  • Demons automatically heal 1 point of damage (aggravated, if such exists, or normal if there is no aggravated damage) per turn.

  • Unlike normal stock NPCs the demon NPC has a number of willpower equal to half its stock rating rounded down.

  • It has specializations in your Storyteller’s choice of two common disciplines. For the purpose of this ritual Daimonion is considered a common discipline.

  • In addition, your Storyteller will select three other skill focuses for the demon to possess.

When others assist you with this ritual the demon NPC gains the following bonuses based on the number of assistants:

  • For every two additional assistants beyond yourself that assist with the casting of the ritual the NPC demon gains 1 stock level and 1 additional skill focus.

  • At Stock Level 10 and every 5 stock levels after, the NPC Demon can take an additional discipline specialization or an elder power specialization. The elder power specialization chosen must be from a discipline the demon possesses. If the demon is gifted an additional discipline specialization it must be a discipline possessed by one of the participants in the ritual.

  • At stock level 20 and every 5 stock levels after the NPC Demon can choose a luminary power for one of the disciplines it specializes in.

The maximum Stock Rating of the demons you may summon with this ritual is 30. All specializations that the summoned demon possesses are chosen by the Storyteller. You may only cast this ritual once every six months. Participating in this ritual permanently stains your aura with infernal taint for 1 year.
