House the Maeljin
Description
Known as the Lords of Wounds, the Maeljin are among the most powerful demons. Incarnations of vice, filth, and greed, they rule over the evil aspects of Shadow. Through utter devotion to demonic forces your body becomes a temporary vessel for the Maeljin to inhabit.
System
The natures of the Maeljin are unholy and abstract sin. To conjure their blessings, you must ritually sacrifice a mortal that has given into the sin the Maeljin you wish to conjure holds dominion over. For example, to summon Mammon, the Feeder of Greed you might sacrifice a slum lord who overcharges his tenants for rent, while providing no amenities or maintenance. Once the ritual sacrifice is complete the Maeljin surges forth from Below manifesting in front of you in a flash of sulfuric smoke. You must willingly let it enter your body and submit to its proclivities in the form of a Flaw (see below) that you gain no XP for. Once the merging is complete you gain an additional focus appropriate to your selected Maeljin and a supernatural benefit (see below):
Select one of the following Maeljin when activating this power. You gain the following benefits and drawbacks: Asmodai, Queen of Wrath:
You gain the Strength Focus
You gain the Short Fuse Flaw
You gain a +2 bonus to resist powers that would thwart your wrathful actions.
Lamashtu, Calipha of Pride:
You gain the Charisma Focus
You gain the Overconfident Flaw
You gain a +2 bonus to resist emotional manipulation powers such as Presence
Beliar, Servant to Sloth:
You gain the Stamina Focus
You gain the Slow Reactions Flaw
You gain a +2 bonus against powers that would force you to act in a specific manner such as Dominate.
Mammon, Feeder of Greed:
You gain the Manipulation Focus
You gain the Curiosity Flaw
Your maximum Blood pool increases by 3.
Pseulak, Minister of Deception
You gain the Intelligence Focus
You gain the Beast in the Mirror Flaw
You gain a +2 bonus to challenges involving Obfuscate or Chimerstry (offensively or defensively).
Thurifuge, Architect of Violence:
You gain the Dexterity Focus
You gain the Impatient Flaw
You gain a +2 bonus to your initiative.
The Maeljin are happy to share their terrible power with a willing host. However, it is not so willing to leave the host body when the caster has finished. At the end of the night, or at any time prior to sunrise, you must make a static challenge using the Dark Thaumaturgy test pool against a difficulty of 15. You may retest, as per a normal static challenge. If you fail this challenge, you lose a point of Willpower and must immediately repeat the challenge. Losing again incurs another lost point of Willpower and another static challenge. This chain of static challenges continues until you win a challenge (either by tying or winning the appropriate tests) or until you run out of Willpower points. If you lose Willpower when you have none remaining your soul is drawn out of your body and dragged forever into hell. You immediately die. You can never be resurrected (not even temporarily), nor can any supernatural power or ability make contact with your damned soul. If you succeed, the Maeljin is ejected from your body back to hell and you immediately gain 4 beast traits.
Your aura remains tainted until you eject the Maeljin from your body. In addition, if a power is used upon you that can detect possession, you show the signs of being possessed by an infernal spirit.
