History & Lore
Formerly known as the Followers of Set, the Ministry traces its origins to the Egyptian god Set — who they believe was actually a vampire of immense age and power. Their faith holds that the world is trapped in a lie created by a false god (often identified with Osiris or the Demiurge), and that only through transgression and liberation from false morality can beings achieve true freedom.
The Ministry operates as part religion, part liberation movement, part organized crime syndicate. They are tempters by nature, seeking to identify what chains bind a person — whether those chains are moral codes, addictions, loyalties, or fears — and then offering the means to break free. That this 'liberation' often creates new dependencies on the Ministry is, they would argue, beside the point.
The clan rebranded from 'Followers of Set' to 'The Ministry' in the modern era, partly to appeal to a broader audience and partly because the clan's theology has evolved. While Set remains central to their mythology, not all Ministry vampires are devout Setites. Some are secular tempters, others follow syncretic faiths that blend Setite doctrine with other traditions.
The Ministry has largely aligned with the Anarch Movement, seeing it as the best vehicle for their philosophy of liberation and self-determination. Their temples and nightclubs serve as havens for the desperate and the curious, places where inhibitions are shed and truths are revealed — for a price.
