Born in Britain under an unknown birth name, the man who would become Beckett lived as an adventurous scholar and archaeologist — a creature of curiosity even in mortal life. His pre-Embrace history remains deliberately obscure, though his erudition and restless nature suggest a life spent among universities and dig sites across Europe.

Embraced by a Gangrel sometime in the 1700s, Beckett was adopted and mentored by Aristotle de Laurent of the Mnemosyne bloodline — a fellow scholar obsessed with Kindred history. Under Aristotle's guidance, Beckett began his lifelong pursuit of Noddist lore, the fragments of the Book of Nod, and the truth behind Kindred mythology.

Over two centuries, Beckett traversed the globe — from Egyptian tombs to European archives, from South American ruins to Asian monasteries. He encountered ancients, survived Setite manipulations (notably Kemintiri's influence in Egypt), and pieced together fragments of Noddist scripture that most Kindred considered lost forever.
