Lucita de Aragón
The Shadow Warrior • The Archbishop • The Reluctant Sabbat
Introduction
Lucita de Aragón is the signature Lasombra character in the World of Darkness — a consummate shadow warrior, assassin, and reluctant leader. Born an illegitimate daughter of Aragonese royalty, she rebelled against her fate, only to be Embraced by the monstrous priest Ambrosio Luis Monçada. For centuries, she defined herself in opposition to her sire and the Sabbat, operating as a feared antitribu.
Yet after Monçada's Final Death, she claimed his mantle, becoming Archbishop of Madrid and later Zaragoza, embracing Sabbat ways while retaining her fierce independence. A master of Obtenebration rivaling Assamites in lethality, Lucita embodies pride, conflict, and shadowy power. Featured in novels, comics, and metaplot, she's one of VtM's most iconic anti-heroes.
In One World of Darkness (New Orleans LARP), Lucita's influence could manifest through Lasombra defectors post-V5 sect shifts, shadow cults in the bayou, or Sabbat remnants clashing with local powers.
Appearance
Tall and willowy with olive skin and long, dark black hair, Lucita carries the classic features of Spanish nobility — aristocratic yet lethal. She favours dark, flowing attire or combat-ready gear, equally comfortable commanding a cathedral nave or slitting throats in an alley.
Shadows cling to her like living extensions of her will, curling and twisting at the edges of her silhouette. Her eyes are intense and commanding — the gaze of a woman who has spent eight centuries deciding who lives and who doesn't. As with all Lasombra, she casts no reflection.

History & Timeline
Lore Variants: Classic — antitribu rebel turned Sabbat Archbishop. V5 — the Lasombra Camarilla shift may complicate her status, but she remains firmly a Sabbat icon.
Personality & Philosophy
The Shadow Warrior
Obtenebration is not just a weapon — it's an extension of self. Lucita fights with living darkness, shadow tentacles that crush and blind. She is arguably the most lethal Lasombra outside the Antediluvians.
The Reluctant Leader
Power repulses her even as she wields it. She took Monçada's mantle not from ambition but from duty — or perhaps spite. Every night as Archbishop is spent proving she's nothing like the monster who made her.
The Anti-Hero
Neither villain nor savior. Lucita's moral complexity defines her — she kills without hesitation but agonizes over purpose. Freedom, justice through strength, and the refusal to be owned by anyone, dead or divine.
Aloof, cunning, resolute, and unyielding. Deeply conflicted — rebellious against authority (including her sire's), yet drawn to the very power structures she once despised. Lucita values personal freedom and justice through strength; she masters pain and shadow as tools. Her Sabbat loyalty is pragmatic rather than fanatical, making her an introspective anti-hero of rare moral complexity.
Powers & Weaknesses
Powers
- Obtenebration (Master): Shadow tentacles, Abyss manipulation, living darkness — her signature. Few Lasombra have reached her level of mastery.
- Combat Prowess: High Brawl, Melee, and Potence. An assassin who can fight toe-to-toe with elder warriors.
- Leadership & Intimidation: Commands a massive Sabbat pack; her presence alone can shatter morale.
- Shadow Stealth: Obtenebration allows near-perfect concealment — she becomes the darkness itself.
- Political Acumen: Eight centuries of navigating Sabbat, Camarilla, and antitribu politics have made her a master strategist.
Weaknesses
- No Reflection: The Lasombra clan curse — she casts no reflection in mirrors, cameras, or water.
- Bright Light & Fire: Vulnerability to intense illumination and flame, especially dangerous for one who dwells in shadow.
- Inner Conflict: Emotional turmoil from her sire's legacy and the burden of power she never wanted risks frenzy.
- Sire's Shadow: Monçada's influence echoes in everything she does — a ghost she can never fully exorcise.
